Whispers of the Heart

Listen carefully and the words will speak to you

I believed I had found that someone on 31 December 1986.

It was a magical night, A Cinderella story.

Can love be for "Always"....

does love have to end?

Is there truly a "Forever Love",

a lifetime friend?

glass slipper shattered,

glass we cannot mend,

 so my Cinderella story ends.

                                                              Or does it now begin?

                                                              Read on my friends!

Always

it was New Year's Eve, romantic, we danced, we laughed,
we missed... the magic of that night and the tragic that followed is with me Always!)

Arms nearly touching, yet we are miles apart.
The unspoken words between us are like an empty theatre.
When did our love become so silent?
Our touch so distant?
Our kisses so few?
Once our love crashed like thunder by the light of the lava lamp casting its' glow upon us as we lay cradled together like two swans intertwined.
The silence only broken by the rhythm in our hearts.
Our love that once blazed like a candle is now a flicker
-of hope
-that our dreams once shared,
could once again be more than just echoes in the night.
Unspoken now are the words within my heart, whispers like the wind, carried by the wings of my love.
Words that your ears rebuff and your heart remains powerless.

You now sit beside me, yet so distant.
I hear the breath of your soul, your thoughts are of us, the
times of laughter we shared just yesterday and moments
we will miss tomorrow.
Years between us seem forgotten.
What happened to the laughter?
Laundry at midnight?
The fortress that held us?
We were the rulers of our castle until a wave broke the
ramparts and soaked us with the salt of the earth.
We jumped up laughing, running barefoot across the beach
like two school children that had just soaked their Sunday best.

Now we sleep together, separately.
Music of the heart now puts me to sleep. Your words are
echoes in my dreams. Your laughter is now a whisper in the
night. Your love is the very soul of my being. The zest and zeal
of your kiss a memory.

Always we said, never we'd be, together.

(the following is the way the poem was originally written, not sure if I prefer this or the revision above)

We sit here on this couch of loneliness,
The usnpoken words between us are like an empty theatre.
When did our love become so silent?

Once our love crashed like thunder by the light of the lava lamp casting
its' glow upon us as we lay cradled together like two swans intertwined,

The silence only broken by the rhythm in our hearts.

Our love that once rose like a candle is now a flicker
-of hope
-that our dreams once shared,
Could once again be more than just echoes int the night.

Unspoken now are the words within my heart, whispers like the wind,
carried by the wings of my love.
Words that your ears rebuff and your heart remains powerless.

I hear the breath of your sou; your thoughts are of us,
Times of laughter we shared jsut yesterday and the moments we will
miss tomorrow.

Years between us seem forgotten.
What happened to the laughter?
Doing laundry at midnight?

The fortress that held us safe in the cold sands?
We wer the rulers of our castle until a wave broke the ramparts and
soaked us with the salt of the earth.
We jumped up laughing, running barefoot across the beach like two
school children that had just torn their Sunday best.

Now we sleep together, separately.

Memories of your music that linger in my heart now put me to sleep.
Your words are echoes in my dreams. Your laughter is now a whipser in
the night. Your love is the very sou ov my being. The zest and zeal of
your kiss a memory.

Always we said, never we'd be, together.

Forever Love

Forever love I thought we'd be
That magical night we danced till 2
The world stood still on that Eve
Magic was there for me and you.

It was my "ball", my dream come true
Cinderella could not have been
As happy as I was when I met you
What happened to our love back then.

We loved a while, we drifted apart
The days became so lonely
Your love to this day is in my heart
I'd thought you were my one and only.

Forever love, magic for a lifetime
Was what we shared from the start
A love that most never find
Lives on forever in my heart.

One day the spell might be broke
And our love that was meant to be
Might not forever be up in smoke
When you come back to me.

Expressions of Love

(as of yet, have not titled this poem, written 4th of February, 1994)

The colors of the rainbow
The sunshine up above
The moonshine on the water
Can not describe my love.

The orange low at sunset
The pink of the morning sky
The wtinkle of the stars at ngiht
Cannot begin to explain why.

My love is deepre than the ocean
Higher than the farthest star
Wider thatn the world around us
Greater than everything near and far.

Like the colors of the rainbow
Like the sunshine up above
Like the noonshine on the water
Forever, dear, describes my love.

(written 6th of February 1994)

The very night we metI fellin love with you
I knew at the first moment
The love I felt was true

My heart fellin love also
You did everything just right
From the moment that I saw you
Till your tender kiss good-night

In my heart my love remains
Forever true to you
And now to lay be your side
Is like a dream come true

My smile is now back on my face
To never leave again
Forever true to you I'll be
From now until the end.

(another poem without a title, written around the same time)

We touch without holding
A kiss our lips do not touch
The little joys of loving
Are the things I miss so much

We sleep together, seperately
Your touch I do not feel
From nightfall till the morning light
Wonder if your love for me is real

We talk without speaking
Listen, I don't think you do
For inside my heart is breaking
To feel the love from you

You ask me to be patient, tell me you've been hurt
Think that I'm another from which you will be burnt

What will it take to show you
My love for you is true
And that I'll never husrt you
Just love my whole life through

Till then my thoughts are whispers
My heart alone it cries
Till one day your fears disappear
And you make me feel alive

We

We that once were

May one day be again

More than just a friend

We that once were

We that once was

The couple they talked about

We laughed, we cried, we'd shout

We that once was

We that once will

One day be back again

More than just friends

We that once will....

Put the past behind

Our love again we'll find

Hold onto a love so kind

I'll be yours, you'll be mine

We that once were.

Red Rose Romance

This thorn I feel in my side

Since the day I first became your bride

The love once stemmed from deep within

I look at the glass that once held my gin

As I sit where you once held my hand

While we danced and listended to the band

Red rose romance you once had said

Not to expect love outside of bed

To dance and play out in a crowd

But not to say these words out loud

I love you, want you, and need you so

Now you tell me that you shall go

Go back to her the one you'd left

Go back to where your live was cleft

Go back to when only roses had thorns

Go back to birds singing in the morn

Go back you say to the love of your life

Go back and leave no one else, your wife

This red rose romance has too many thorns

Too short a stem and no happy morns

I'll wait till one day for your return

Till then my heart will always yearn

for the day of romance, spark and fire

for the day I feel my loves desire

for the day to come I will feel whole

for the day I see my true love told

for the day you'll come back and you will say

for the day I hear those words I pray

Till then my sky shall be my cover

Till then my memories will be my lover

Till then my nights will be without peace

Till then my tears will never cease

Till then to life's rhythm I will dance

Till then I'll not have a red rose romance.

Love has Grown

As the years have passed our love has grown

Through passion, fear and turmoil

A seed was planted the night we met

It has grown, faded and blossomed again and again

Truth and trust live deep in our love

Forever in my heart we will belong together

An empty page we never were together

Minds did not follow as our hearts had grown

Into more than just a passionate love

Combined with frustration and turmoil

Filled with renewal over and over again

Repeatedly since the day we met

Since that night I have never met

Another with which to be together

Relive the passionate love again and again

The emptiness inside has grown

My life has been in constant turmoil

Empty and longing for your love

I have though only one regret in love

And that is that if we'd never met

My life would not know such turmoil

With somoeone else I might be together

Not knowing that the love had grown

By trying to fall in love over and over again

I hear your name, your voice again and again

Time only brings, a yearning for your love

How the barrenness has grown

There has not been another met

Whose love and heart belong together

Encircled by such turmoil

My life is to linger in turmoil

Never to fall in love over and over again

Since we cannot be together

Our suspicions and minds have never met

As our hearts have conitnually grown

In such turmoil, without romantic love

Again and again my heart will have met

But never to be together; trepidation now grown.

Knocking of my Heart

I stare up at your window
Wishing to see a light
The way it used to be
A wish of hope inside of me
That we could spend the night.

Instead I feel such emptiness
From deep inside of me.

If only you had heard me knock
When I called your name
You were away from here
Somewhere off in dreamland dear
Wish I could do the same.

My heart kept right on knocking,    (Instead I kept on knocking from within
the sound you could not hear.          My heart the beating you couldn't hear.)     later revised version
